Forearm Pain

Two of the most common causes of Forearm and elbow pain are:

1. Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis or lateral epicondylosis) this is pain on the outside of the elbow.

2. Golfers elbow (medial epicondylitis or medial epicondylosis) this is pain on the inside of the elbow.

Tennis elbow and golfers elbow are caused by an overload to the forearm muscles. This creates pain on the outside or inside of your elbow. This can be caused from playing tennis or golf but is commonly seen in people that use their hands for a living performing activities that involved gripping, grabbing, or typing. If this is not treated the tendon can degenerate and can even tear, so it is very important to have this treated as soon as possible.

The muscles in the forearm attach to the bone in the elbow by a common tendon. This tendon can become irritated and degenerated when overloaded. When a muscle is overloaded it will cause adhesion formation. To learn more about adhesion please click the following link (Adhesion). At Muscle and Joint Chiropractic we offer a complete treatment plan. We treat the muscles of the forearm using a combination of MAR and IAR to bread down adhesion. This will take pressure off of the tendon and allow it to heal. We will also treat the tendon directly and use exercises to reverse the degeneration.

There are many other forms of pain that can be found in the forearm and elbow area. Problems in the neck and shoulder can refer pain to the elbow and forearm so it is important to be evaluated by a professional. We do a complete analysis to be sure that we pinpoint the source of your pain.

Muscle adhesion is the most common source of pain and stiffness and the most underdiagnosed.
