TMJ (Jaw) pain

The TMJ is a very sensitive and fragile joint that is strongly influenced by the musculature surrounding it. Because of imbalance caused by the overactivation of some muscles and the underactivitation of others, TMJ pain results. We treat the appropriate muscles dictated by the exam and give the patient the tools they need to manage their condition at home. Because the TMJ is so closely related to the neck, the neck is examined as well and treated accordingly. We are certified in head, neck, and orofacial rehabilitation by Clayton Skaggs, DC who is the founder of the Central Institute of Human Performance (CIHP) in St. Louis, MO. He spent many years working with top Dentists and Orthodontists to develop a protocol for the treatment of the TMJ. We use his techniques on a daily basis in our office.
